
Canada-based handset manufacturer, BlackBerry is planning to provide support to developers at the upcoming Startup Village in Visakhapatnam by replicating its Rubus Labs model.
Startup Village was started in April 2012 as a non-profit business incubator at Kochi in Kerala. It has so far incubated 800 start-ups, including 256 student start-ups. Meanwhile, BlackBerry has also set up Rubus Labs at the Kochi Startup Village. This is the company?s first innovation zone in the Asia-Pacific region, in order to promote development of applications on the BlackBerry platform.
BlackBerry has also been collaborating with state governments including that of Telangana and Himachal Pradesh to encourage start-ups to develop government and public applications. In Telangana, BlackBerry is planning offer device and technical support to the incubation centres to be set up by the state government in association with the Indian School of Business and International Institute of Information Technology-Hyderabad.
