
Bharti Airtel is planning to use spectrum in the 900 MHz band to offer high-speed 3G services in the Mumbai circle. Currently, the operator is providing 3G services in the circle using spectrum in the 2100 MHz band.
The company?s decision to use spectrum in the 900 MHz band is aimed at addressing the issues related to 3G spectrum crunch. Bharti Airtel is looking forward to offer subscribers up to 34 per cent faster broadband speed by using spectrum in the 900 MHz band. The broadband services offered through 900 MHz band will be called ?3G platinum service.?
By using the higher frequency band (900 MHz), the operator is looking forward to achieve expanded geographical coverage and provide seamless user experience to subscribers.
Apart from Mumbai, Bharti Airtel also plans to use spectrum in the 900 MHz in Kolkata for providing high speed broadband services.
