Another tariff war has broken out in the Indian telecom sector. Shortly after Vodafone India reduced its 2G data tariffs by over 80 per cent, Bharti Airtel has followed suit and has reduced data usage charges by 90 per cent for prepaid subscribers in Punjab and Haryana.

The operator has reduced the volume based charges on recharge vouchers priced at Rs 22, Rs 25 and Rs 125. Customers will now be charged Re 0.01 per 10 KB of data usage, from Re 0.10 earlier.

These recharge vouchers entail 125 MB, 150 MB and 1 GB of free data usage, for five, seven and 28 days respectively.

Moreover, the operator has increased the validity of the Rs 22 and Rs 25 recharge vouchers to 30 and 90 days respectively.
