Atul Arya, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Blackstraw.ai
Atul Arya, founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Blackstraw.ai, plays a central role in setting the company’s strategic direction while remaining closely involved in enterprise artificial intelligence (AI) execution. His responsibilities span product and platform strategy, key client engagements, go-to-market execution, and building long-term partnerships. He also collaborates with global teams on solution design to ensure scalability, governance and measurable business outcomes.
On the technology and telecom front, Arya believes that one of the key challenges for technology leaders is moving AI beyond access and pilot projects into predictable business outcomes. He notes that enterprises continue to navigate issues around data readiness, governance and production deployment where measurable value can be realised. He foresees AI becoming embedded into everyday business workflows, especially in areas such as customer experience, network optimisation and real-time decision-making.
Arya’s career began in technology, where he worked across development, analytics and product leadership roles. He later joined Nielsen, leading global AI and machine learning teams and contributing to product development in areas such as retail data collection, computer vision and mobile platforms. In 2018, he founded Blackstraw.ai with the mission of accelerating AI adoption for businesses by closing the gap between experimentation and production.
Arya highlights his ability to bridge technology and business by translating AI capabilities into enterprise-ready solutions that deliver measurable outcomes. He also emphasises mentoring teams and helping them focus on scale, value and disciplined execution. “One thing I am working on is learning to filter better in this fast moving AI space. There is so much coming at us – new tools, new ideas, etc. The real discipline is staying focused on the few things that will actually move the needle, rather than chasing what is just shiny and new,” he says.
He describes his management style as collaborative and outcome-oriented. “I like to give leaders a lot of autonomy, but I am clear about what good execution looks like and what kind of impact we are aiming for,” he adds.
Outside of work, he enjoys mentoring people, staying fit, reading and keeping himself curious about emerging technology trends. “I am fortunate to have my wife and two sons by my side. Family keeps me grounded and gives me perspective beyond work, especially in an industry that moves as fast as tech and AI,” shares Arya.
