According to the government, about 60 startups have registered with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) since the unlocking of the Indian space sector.

As per the Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh, private players and innovative startups will augment the role of the Department of Space in protecting the country’s interests in the sector by developing all-around capabilities in space transportation, debris management, infrastructure and applications.

Additionally, during the inauguration of the ISRO System for Safe and Sustainable Operation (IS4OM) in Bangalore, the minister informed that the facility will aid India in achieving its space situational awareness goals by providing comprehensive and timely information about the space environment. The platform will bring prompt, accurate and efficient information on on-orbit collision, fragmentation, atmospheric re-entry risk, space-based strategic information and space weather forecast.
