Aravind Seshagiri, business unit leader, measurement and instrumentation, Frost & Sullivan, South Asia and Middle East, believes that assigning responsibilities and trusting next-in-line managers make it easier to meet deadlines and execute work schedules. ?The industry I am in requires a lot of self-discipline. Hence, creating and building expertise are critical to my success and that of my peers. Thus, providing them the atmosphere to perform to expectations is my way of completing tasks,? he comments.

Seshagiri?s current work profile includes executing consulting assignments, publishing market research studies and estimating market size, and forecasting. Researching and finalising topics for syndicated research studies and analysing and commenting on markets as well as the latest products and technology trends are also on his agenda.
Seshagiri obtained a degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. He started his career as a hardware engineer in a network management product company in Maryland.
He moved back to India in 2003 with a plan to enter the wireless market. For a better understanding of the market, he joined the research division of Frost & Sullivan. He later moved to a semiconductor company as head of its advanced wireless solutions division. ?However, I retained an interest in market research and hence, rejoined Frost & Sullivan subsequently to manage its global semiconductor research and consulting division, with the additional responsibility of managing the measurement and instrumentation practice for South Asia and the Middle East,? he says.
He considers his most exciting and challenging assignment a consulting project that he undertook for a global semiconductor company. ?This company wanted to align its product line to cater to a new segment and wanted to understand the architecture of its competition that had a good presence in that segment. It was a challenge, especially collating the different dynamics involved, including the technology, solutions, services, customer preferences and costing.?
Going forward, he believes that the telecom sector is set to witness busy times ahead. ?Given the government?s new policy initiation and the focus on broadband bandwidth revision, spectrum, licensing and cloud computing, we will witness a major boost in the telecom sector.?
Describing himself as a ?serial thinker?, Seshagiri says that he enjoys devising new business plans in his spare time. Apart from that he enjoys watching movies and cricket.
