As per data released by Strategy Analytics, in the first quarter of 2013, the smartphone market was led by Apple, Samsung and LG.
Samsung and Apple led the pecking order, with a combined market share of 71.4 per cent. The research firm has pegged the global smartphone market at $223 billion. For the period under review, LG replaced HTC as the third largest vendor. In terms of unit shipments, LG continues to be the seventh-largest manufacturer with a market share of 4 per cent, followed by players like Huawei, Lenovo, Sony and ZTE which have market shares of between 4 and 5 per cent.
