According to a StatCounter report, Apple became the leading vendor in terms of mobile-based internet usage in January 2013. It was followed by Samsung, while Nokia was in the third position.
The data in the report is based on over 15 billion page views per month on the StatCounter network.
The report stated, ?In January 2013 Apple led globally in terms of Internet usage with 25.86 per cent, ahead of Samsung (22.69 per cent) and Nokia (22.15 per cent).?
In 2012, Nokia was at the top of the pecking order, followed by Apple, with 28.67 per cent market share and Samsung, with 14.84 per cent market share.
In India, Nokia still leads the pack, despite its market share declining to 52.1 per cent in January 2013, from 72.95 per cent in January 2012.
Samsung followed, with 26.87 per cent share in January 2013, while the third position was occupied by an unknown brand, with 13.17 per cent market share.
Globally, this unknown brand accounted for 10.95 per cent market share and occupied the fourth position. The StatCounter report classified it as ?unknown?, as it could not obtain any information about the vendor.
