Apple is said to be accelerating its shift in manufacturing from China to India to mitigate supply chain risks amid ongoing US-China trade tensions.

A Tata Electronics facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, has reportedly begun assembling older iPhone models. Meanwhile, a $2.6 billion Foxconn plant in Bengaluru, Karnataka, is also set to start limited operations soon according to sources. The Foxconn unit is expected to initially produce iPhone 16 and 16e models, with an output capacity of 300–500 units per hour. Once fully operational by December 2027, the Bengaluru facility is expected to create around 50,000 jobs.
