Alcatel-Lucent has entered into an agreement with Softbank Mobile to provide the latter with a high speed mobile access network.

Alcatel-Lucent has entered into an agreement with Softbank Mobile to provide the latter with a high speed mobile access network. As per the agreement, Alcatel-Lucent will deploy a 3G UMTS/HSDPA solution in order to complement Softbank’s current voice service offering and enhance its broadband service portfolio. Alcatel-Lucent will also provide Maxis Communications with a point-to-multipoint backhaul network for its cellular networks. Maxis Communications is upgrading the backhaul network for its cellular networks to meet expected capacity requirements.
