Alamuri Sitaramaiah has been director of Fluke Networks India’s sales and marketing operations for over three years. He brings over 25 years of experience to the job, including practical knowledge in the areas of technology transfer, product engineering, marketing and sales.
Prior to his current job, he worked with Tyco Electronics for a little under 10 years. He was instrumental in growing and establishing the company as a market leader in structured cabling solutions in India.
His current stint at Fluke has been one of his most enjoyable. “My current assignment involves developing a mass market of a niche solutions set in an increasingly relevant market of IT infrastructure management. I also cherish my earlier association at Tyco Electronics where I was an important part of a team that led the company to a position of market leadership,” he reminisces.
Sitaramaiah oversees the sales and marketing activities of Fluke Networks India, which offers TCP-IP network test and measurement solutions. This involves leading a team of engineers to reach out to customers through channel partners. Sitaramaiah says, “We provide niche technology solutions. This calls for a huge amount of teamwork and coordination among internal teams as well as with channel partners. It also requires specialised sales and technical skills. I need to adopt a democratic style of management leadership to ensure that we, as a team, contribute to the success.”
Sitaramaiah believes that several trends will impact the test and measurement space in the near future. For instance, keeping in mind that IT is becoming increasingly critical for business, downtime and performance degradations need to be minimised. Hence, the need for testing and troubleshooting tools will only increase.
He has a clear idea of the challenges and targets before him. “The most challenging task at hand is to develop a mass market for niche solutions. We provide network test and troubleshooting tools that need to be woven into network management practices and processes in order to make them mass consumed.”
Sitaramaiah has a bachelor’s degree in electronics and communications engineering, and an MBA in finance. He is a voracious reader and cannot sleep at night without spending some time reading a book, newspaper or journal.
His family comprises his wife and two daughters. He says, “Ours is a small, close-knit family. My wife, Mahalakshmi, is a homemaker who holds the fort while I travel extensively on weekdays. We have two daughters, Pavani, who is in college, and Lalitha, who is in high school.”
