Akamai Technologies Inc has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Israel-based Guardicore for about $600 million. The move will help it to increase its cloud security offerings and help businesses combat ransomware attacks.

According to Akamai, the deal will close in the fourth quarter of 2021, generating between $30 million and $35 million in revenue for the fiscal year 2022.

The acquisition will equip Akamai to provide comprehensive protections to the enterprise, defending against threat actors and the spread of malware and ransomware, by adding Guardicore’s micro-segmentation solution to its extensive zero trust security portfolio.
