Aircel is aiming for an all-India presence by 2009. The company, which already has a presence in nine circles, has applied for licences in 14 new ones and intends rolling out services in almost all the 23 circles by end-2008 or early 2009. DoT may issue licences to the company for launching operations in seven new circles including Andhra Pradesh, Mumbai, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
Aircel may also set up 5,000 additional cell sites and is negotiating infrastructure-sharing agreements with Airtel and RCL.
