The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has announced financial support for two more semiconductor design startups/micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) under the design-led incentive (DLI) scheme during the futureDESIGN Roadshow at Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Thiruvananthapuram.
One of these companies is WiSig Networks, a fabless startup incubated at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Hyderabad. It specialises in developing solutions for 5G base stations, 5G integrated access backhaul, 5G user equipment (UE) stacks, narrowband internet of things (NB-IoT) and satcom system on chips (SoCs). Under the DLI scheme, Wisig Networks proposes to design a 5G NB-IoT SoC with integrated baseband and radio, an application processor, and GPS functionality for location tracking for implementing energy and utility metering solutions and livestock tracking.
The second company to receive financial support is GreenPMU Semi, a fabless startup incubated at IIT Hyderabad. It specialises in building power management integrated circuits (ICs) capable of harvesting energy from multiple sources to realise battery-free IoT solutions. Under the DLI scheme, GreenPMU Semi proposes to design a multi-input energy harvesting power management IC for IoT applications.
