According to the latest data released by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), over 7,000 5G base transceiver stations (BTSs) were deployed across India during January 2024. Specifically, a total of 7,635 BTSs were added, bringing the total 5G BTS count in the country to 419,849 by January 31, 2024.

As per the data, Uttar Pradesh (958), Karnataka (849), West Bengal (622), Tamil Nadu (537) and Rajasthan (503) are the top five states which saw the highest addition of 5G BTSs during the month. In contrast, Ladakh witnessed the addition of only one 5G BTS, while Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep did not see any additional deployment.
