The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Anil Kumar Lahoti, Indian Railway Service of Engineers (1984) (Retired) as the new chairman of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
The appointment has been made for a period of three years from the date of assumption of charge of the post or until he attains the age of 65 years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Lahoti previously served as the chairman and chief executive officer of the Railway Board, Ministry of Railways. During his career of more than 36 years in railways, he has worked in various capacities over central, northern, north central, western, and west central railways, and in the Railway Board.
Lahoti has graduated in civil engineering from Madhav Institute of Technology and Science, Gwalior, and completed master in engineering (structures) from University of Roorkee.
