
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) plans to expedite Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited?s (BSNL) voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) after it completes the process of repatriating 1,800 Indian Telecom Officers (ITOs) back to DoT.
Over 300 officials have already been relieved, while the remaining officers are expected to join DoT by December-end.
DoT is likely to spend around Rs 112.76 billion on BSNL’s VRS. In addition, there will be expenditure on normal retirement benefits, including gratuity, pension, leave encashment and transfer grant.
