The government has selected P.K. Purwar as CMD of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). He will take charge once Anupam Shrivastava demits office in June 2019. Purwar is currently serving as full-time CMD of Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL), after having held interim charge on several occasions. Shrivastava was appointed CMD of BSNL in 2015 for a period of five years or till his superannuation at 60 years, and will retire in June 2019. The Public Enterprises Selection Board was considering nine candidates for the post.
