The ACC has appointed Sarvesh Singh as chairman and managing director (CMD) of Bharat Broadband Network Limited (BBNL). This is a new position created by the government after it decided to split the portfolio of the USO Fund administrator, who has also been heading BBNL operations. The decision comes against the backdrop of issues relating to the progress of BharatNet. As CMD of BBNL, Singh will hold a joint secretary-level position under the Department of Telecommunications. Singh is a 1988 batch officer of the Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers.
