Sunil Sood, managing director (MD) and CEO of Vodafone India, has been appointed as the new chairman of the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI). Also, Ajai Puri, chief operating officer (COO), Bharti Airtel, has been appointed vice-chairman of COAI. Sood has been the vice-chairman of COAI for the past two years and has succeeded Gopal Vittal of Bharti Airtel. Sood has been MD and CEO of Vodafone India since April 2015 and has held various positions including COO of Vodafone India and director of west zone. Puri has been with Bharti Airtel since 2004 and has held several senior leadership positions including director, market operations; director and CEO, direct-to-home; and CEO, Odisha, Kolkata and West Bengal
