Spirent Communications has announced a new software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform, Spirent Temeva, which allows companies to manage their testing needs from anywhere and through any device. The solution offers three web-based applications covering network traffic testing and network functions virtualisation (NFV) infrastructure benchmarking, cloud performance and capacity planning.

According to the company, Temeva helps resolve a number of issues faced while selecting testing tools to validate next-generation network and virtualised infrastructure. Users have to manage multiple vendors’ software and licensing schemes and the resulting mix of applications becomes cumbersome, and expensive to access, share and maintain. Often test results are disorganised, thus making it difficult to identify trends and correlations.

The new Temeva platform provides companies with a browser-based platform to deal with these challenges. It automatically stores all test configurations, data and reports in a secure repository. This repository can be conveniently accessed from anywhere and with any device through a web portal, where test metrics can be transformed and scored.

Further, Temeva features an intuitive dashboard that includes all purchased applications and licences so that the administrators can easily manage usage and make intelligent future purchasing decisions. Test reports are scored with pass or fail grades, providing network answers in minutes to identify the root cause of network problems and validate service-level agreements.

The first three test applications available under Temeva are:

  • Spirent TrafficCenter: This is a web-based network application that helps in testing and validating network connectivity, design and traffic flow. The application features Layer 2 and Layer 3 traffic generation, drag-and-drop traffic flows and mixes, health indicators, enhanced live results and comprehensive test reports.
  • Spirent MethodologyCenter: This is a methodology-driven application featuring standardised test scenarios for NFV infrastructure, virtual network function and network benchmarking.
  • Spirent CloudStress: This is an infrastructure benchmarking application designed for evaluating performance and undertaking capacity planning for memory, storage and network input/output. It features dynamic workloads to validate cloud and virtualised infrastructure.
