Huawei has launched the Honor 5X and Holly 2 Plus smartphones in India. The Honor 5X has dual-SIM
support and comes with nano-SIM, micro-SIM, and microSD card slots. It also features a 5.5 inch 1,080 pixel full HD display and is powered by a quad-core 1.3 GHz processor. The phone has a 13 megapixel rear camera, a 5 megapixel front camera and is equipped with a 3000 mAh battery. It runs on the Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system (OS) and Huawei’s customised user interface. The phone has 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal memory and is priced at Rs 12,999. The Holly 2 Plus supports 4G for both CDMA and WCDMA technologies. It is packed with a 4000 mAh battery, which has a reverse-charging feature to share power with another handset. The phone has a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera. It offers 16 GB internal storage and has a microSD card slot for storage expansion. BlackBerry has launched the Priv smartphone in India. The smartphone features a 5.4 inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1,440×2,560 pixels. Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo has launched its Y51L smartphone in India. The device is a variant
of the Y51, which was unveiled in December 2015. Services
Internet service provider Spectranet plans to offer fixed line broadband connections with 100 Mbps speed and unlimited data usage for Rs 1,200 per month. The company has already started a three-month trial in Gurgaon, offering 100 Mbps broadband speed at Rs 1,199 with no download limit. It plans to roll out the service in other cities including Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon, Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune and Mumbai within a year.
Vodafone India has launched a bonus card for its customers in the Uttar Pradesh (East) circle, which will facilitate longer calls at lower rates. With the bonus card, Vodafone’s customers can make local calls at the rate of Re 0.25 per minute and also select other plans as per their choice.
Bharti Airtel has launched the Wync Games application as a part of its over-the-top business expansion strategy. The mobile gaming application will host more than 2,000 games including several premium and paid titles at no additional cost. While the company is offering a free subscription to its subscribers, other users will have to pay Rs 29 for this application.
Aircel has partnered with Gramin Healthcare to launch a primary care health helpline, Gramin Healthcare Line for its customers in Odisha. This move aims to cater to Aircel’s rural and semi-urban subscribers in the state. It will empower customers by providing them medical convenience through their mobile phones, thereby giving easy access to quality and professional healthcare. In order to activate the service, Aircel’s customers need to dial 55557 (chargeable at Rs 6 per minute).
