The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is planning to soon start its consultation process on regulating over-the-top (OTT) communications players or apps.
Through the consultation process, TRAI plans to ask which class of apps need to be brought under the regulation if it is required.
The consultation paper will also revisit the definition of OTTs, the class of OTTs, demands of a level-playing field with telcos and existing international practices, among others.
