The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has extended the deadline for making payments for spectrum acquired in the recently concluded auction to August 17, 2022. The extension in the timeline has been made due to a bank holiday in Mumbai and Maharashtra on August 16, 2022.
The DoT, on August 5, 2022, had issued demand notices to all the four bidders of the 5G spectrum auctions to conclude payments by August 16, 2022. Besides, the telcos have also been given the option to pay in 20 equal annual instalments or they can choose to pay the entire amount or part of it upfront. Meanwhile, such part payment would be for at least two years or more.
