Reliance Communications is close to sourcing nearly $500 million of network equipment from Alcatel-Lucent in order to expand its CDMA network. Under the contract, Alcatel-Lucent may supply a mix of network equipment including base stations, base station controllers, mobile switching centres and network management systems. Price negotiations between the two companies are reportedly at an advanced stage.
