RailTel will soon provide a communication system to the rail link project in the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla section of Northern Railway.
The communication inside tunnels is often interrupted due to poor signal coverage, hampering train operation and maintenance. Installation of an integrated tunnel communication system will enable an uninterrupted link from inside tunnels to the base station at tunnel control rooms and station masters of adjacent stations.
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 869 million.
The Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla section has 16 tunnels. This section of the Northern Railway is managed by Konkan Railways.
