The telecom minister has said that the 5G spectrum auction is likely to take place around April-May, 2022.
Further, according to Vaishnaw, the government will bring out a series of further reforms in the telecom sector and telecom regulatory structure will also most likely see a change in coming 2-3 years.
At present, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is undergoing consultations on the timeline for 5G auctions.
The ministry also noted that the government is keen to ensure that auctions are technology-neutral, and wants to give a spectrum that is consistent for many years to come.
