The Jammu and Kashmir administration has restored 4G internet services in the state for the first time after over 18 months.
Earlier in August 2019, the government had withdrawn the high-speed internet services from Jammu and Kashmir when the centre ended the special status of the erstwhile State.
Following this, throughout 2020, broadband internet and slow mobile data were restored in the state in phases after the Supreme Court directed the government to do so.
Earlier on August 16, 2020, 4G mobile data services were restored in twin districts of Ganderbal and Udhampur on a trial basis. However, on January 22, 2021, the Jammu and Kashmir government extended a ban on high-speed mobile data services across the union territory.
