According to a report released by Vodafone Idea Limited’s (Vi) business-to-business unit, around 57 per cent of surveyed enterprises in India expect the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) to accelerate business growth. The study found that 25 per cent of enterprises have already integrated AI into their business practices and operational workflows.

Vi Business said in its micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) Growth Insights Study 2026 that as India rapidly emerges as a global destination for AI adoption and a data centre hub, the growing MSME sector, which contributes over 31 per cent of GDP, is accelerating its own adoption of the technology.

The study also found that 46.3 per cent of Indian MSMEs have adopted cyber defence solutions to counter rising online threats, a trend that is acting as a major driver of the country’s overall digital maturity index growth.

The digital workplace pillar emerged as the fastest-growing area of transformation, rising from 57.5 in 2023 to 65.7 in 2026, while digital operations also recorded strong progress, increasing from 56.5 to 62 over the same period, as MSMEs increasingly used technology to streamline processes, improve efficiency and strengthen business resilience.
