The semiconductor plant being developed at Jagiroad in Assam is expected to commence production within the current financial year, according to the union minister for electronics and IT.
The minister also said that efforts through the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) to train young professionals in semiconductor manufacturing technologies are progressing well.
Meanwhile, the Assam chief minister described his meeting with the union minister as productive and highlighted his knowledge and expertise on the sector.
The facility at Jagiroad is expected to emerge as one of India’s key semiconductor manufacturing sites and is aligned with the country’s objective of building a self-reliant semiconductor ecosystem.
