The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has reduced Vodafone Idea Limited’s (Vi’s) adjusted gross revenue (AGR) liabilities by nearly 27 per cent, providing significant cash-flow relief to the country’s third-largest telecom operator and creating room for fresh fundraising.

Following a reassessment of Vi’s AGR dues, a DoT-appointed committee has put the total AGR amount at Rs 640.46 billion as on December 31, 2025, Vi said in a regulatory filing.

The DoT had earlier frozen Vi’s AGR dues as on 31 December at Rs 876.95 billion, pending reassessment and final approval by the committee.

With the dues now finalised, Vi will pay a minimum of Rs 1 billion annually for four years between FY32 and FY35 under the approved repayment schedule. The remaining amount will be settled in six equal annual instalments from FY36 to FY41, effectively deferring the bulk of the liability for a decade. The phased repayment plan now stretches across 16 years, offering a much-needed financial reprieve to the operator.
