Nokia is selling its fixed wireless access (FWA) consumer premises equipment (CPE) business to United States-based vendor Inseego, as the Finnish equipment maker continues to sharpen its focus on mobile networks and data centres to capitalise on the artificial intelligence (AI) driven growth cycle.
Under the agreement, Nokia will receive an equity stake of approximately 7 per cent in Inseego in the form of common stock and warrants, valued at $20 million, upon closing of the transaction, according to a joint statement.
Nokia will subsequently make an additional $10 million investment in Inseego, also in the form of common stock and warrants, bringing its total stake in the company to approximately 11 per cent.
The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to certain conditions. It includes plans for joint go-to-market initiatives between the two companies in 6G wireless and wireless edge technologies to capture AI-led opportunities and grow the FWA business further. The collaboration will also explore joint innovation, carrier 5G monetisation, and consumer and enterprise opportunities at the wireless edge.
