Marine Electricals (India) has secured orders worth Rs 1.15 billion from Larsen and Toubro for work related to a semiconductor manufacturing facility in Dholera. In a regulatory filing, the company said the contract involves the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of low-tension boards and branch panels for Tata Semiconductor Manufacturing’s upcoming plant. Further, the order is scheduled to be executed over an 18-month period.
The Dholera facility is part of a larger initiative approved by the government of India, under which Tata Electronics will set up a semiconductor fabrication plant in partnership with Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC). The project involves an investment of up to Rs 910 billion (around $11 billion), with construction expected to begin this year.
Once operational, the facility is projected to generate over 20,000 direct and indirect skilled jobs, marking Tata Electronics’ entry into the global semiconductor manufacturing space.
