The union minister of communications and development of northeastern region said on that the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) will take a decision on the next spectrum auction across multiple bands after examining the regulator’s recommendations.
He stated that the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has recommended the quantum of spectrum across various horizontal bands, including reserve prices, and added that a final decision will be taken after detailed evaluation.
On February 25, 2026, the TRAI shared its recommendations on multiple frequency bands. It proposed auctioning the entire available spectrum in the 600-megahertz (MHz), 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz, 2500 MHz, 3300 MHz and 26 gigahertz bands in the upcoming sale.
The authority recommended putting the entire 11,790 MHz of spectrum on the block, with an estimated value of around Rs 2.1 trillion.
