As per industry sources, Vodafone Idea, which was earlier trying to raise around $2 billion in hybrid debt, is now planning to opt for a pure equity round instead.

Earlier in September 2020, soon after the Supreme Court (SC) extended the deadline to repay outstanding regulatory dues in a staggered manner, Vodafone Idea announced plans to raise around Rs 250 billion in a combination of debt and equity.

As part of this plan, the operator was going to raise up to $2 billion via hybrid instruments (debt with an optional component of convertible) first, followed by an equity raise later.
