The Telecom Security Testing Lab (TSTL) of the IIT-Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation has reportedly been authorised by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to test 5G core-network function, access and mobility management function (AMF) and 5G Group-I devices.

The certification enables the laboratory to conduct advanced security evaluations of 5G mobile-telecom equipment, supporting faster rollout of secure and resilient 5G infrastructure nationwide.

Further, the TSTL received this certification from the National Centre for Communication Security (NCCS) to test AMF and 5G Group-I devices, covering 21 key core-network functions under common security requirements.

Additionally, the NCCS has been tasked with operationalising the framework for security testing and certification of telecom and information and communication technology (ICT) products in India under the Communication Security Certification Scheme (ComSec), which comes under the broader Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecom Equipment (MTCTE) rules.
