Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur and Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance cybersecurity across Pune and Nagpur Metro operations.
The MoU was executed by the chief executive officer (CEO), C3iHub and the managing director (MD) of Maha Metro.
Pune Metro is also preparing to roll out driverless train services, which inherently demand robust cybersecurity support. Similarly, metro operations rely on the integration of multiple software
systems for covering ticketing, telecom, signalling, power supply, and safety which require protection, as any cyberattack could disrupt services.
The MoU will cover Cybersecurity Gap Assessment (VAPT), policy and governance frameworks, continuous security monitoring, secure database management, risk-mitigation roadmaps, air-gapped and isolated networks, firewalls, and network management.
Further, IIT Kanpur will lead awareness initiatives on safe cybersecurity practices and standards, alongside strengthening the software ecosystem.
