Subram Natarajan, Chief Technology and Innovation Officer, L&T-Cloudfiniti
Subram Natarajan serves as chief technology and innovation officer (AI & Cloud), Data Center Business at L&T-Cloudfiniti, where he is at the forefront of solving the complex challenges posed by rapid advancements in AI and digital transformation.
With IT systems constantly evolving, Natarajan sees the primary challenge as helping businesses and government agencies future-proof their technology landscapes to ensure sustained competitive advantage. He states, “The challenge is finding a way to future-proof IT systems in a way that businesses and government agencies can leverage technology and reap the benefit of positioning businesses for the future.”
He predicts that the technology and telecom sectors are standing at a pivotal inflection point, with the emergence of GenAI and intelligent agents fundamentally changing enterprise software. The evolution from basic cloud architectures to cloud-native, microservices-driven platforms has paved the way for GenAI, enabling powerful automation, deep personalisation, and advanced decision-making.
Natarajan’s distinguished career began with a Master’s in Engineering from McGill University, after which he started as a project engineer at Procter & Gamble in Canada. A swift pivot into software engineering at Speedware Corporation offered him a thorough grounding in the software development lifecycle. He then took up leadership positions at Informix/IBM in Portland, and a customer-facing Chief Technology Officer (CTO) role at IBM India. Natarajan’s tenure at Google Cloud as director of Customer Engineering and field CTO exposed him to the immense scale and velocity of IT transformations and AI adoption, which now inform his strategic approach at L&T-Cloudfiniti.
Driven by a passion for both technology and talent development, he believes empowering people is key to organisational growth. He notes, “As a leader, I get the opportunity to shape and script our success, and that is always exciting.”
His management philosophy centres on empowerment and leading by example. Natarajan’s core responsibilities span ensuring customer success; setting strategic direction across products, technology and business; and executing on these plans. He describes himself as a technologist at heart, deeply invested in people development, but occasionally letting his intense passion and pursuit of perfection override agility.
Beyond work, Natarajan enjoys reading ancient religious texts, listening to classical music, spending time with his dog and relaxing with family. His family includes his wife and a daughter who is a psychologist.
