According to the Ministry of Communications, in a reply to the parliament on July 23, 2025, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has placed a purchase order for indigenously developed 4G sites for pan-India deployment. The supply of 4G equipment commenced in September 2023, and as of June 30, 2025, a total of 95,537 4G sites have been installed.
Responding to a question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development, stated that out of 95,537 4G sites, 90,035 numbers are on-air and the equipment is 5G upgradable.
Similarly, on the issue of uninterrupted mobile network availability by private telecom operators in rural Rajasthan compared to BSNL’s network disruptions during power cuts, Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region said, that wherever such issues exist, including Rajasthan, remedial action is undertaken.
He further added that porting is a dynamic process, and many customers from other operators have ported into the BSNL network as well.
On the average time required for mobile towers to become operational after installation, the Minister informed, that the tower erection work is a time-consuming activity and can span over several weeks depending upon the access conditions.
Addressing concerns regarding poor mobile connectivity in border districts such as Bhiwani, Mahendragarh, and Nuh in Haryana, he informed that as of May 2025, out of 6,44,131 villages in the country, 6,29,027 villages are covered with mobile connectivity and out of these, 6,23,512 villages have 4G mobile connectivity, and all the 1,070 villages in Bhiwani, Mahendragarh and Nuh districts have 4G mobile connectivity.
Further, as per the Minister, as of June 2025, Rs 9.7 billion have been disbursed/ utilised for enhancing telecom and broadband connectivity in Haryana under various Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN) schemes. Out of this, Rs 7.71 billion have been disbursed under BharatNet project. So far, 1,59,949 fibre to the home (FTTH) connections have been provided in Haryana under BharatNet.”
