The central government has extended Robert J Ravi’s additional charge as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of state-run telecom firms Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) by another three months, according to a regulatory filing by MTNL made during on July 14, 2025.
During this extended tenure, Ravi will not receive any additional remuneration.
Ravi was first assigned the additional charge as CMD of BSNL and MTNL on July 13, 2024, after the government declined to extend PK Purwar’s term. Further, in January 2025, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) had extended Ravi’s additional charge for additional six months.
