Union Minister of Communications reportedly met the top officials at SpaceX to explore opportunities for collaboration aimed at advancing the country’s digital goals through transformative satellite technologies. The minister called satellite communication (satcom) India’s next frontier in connectivity.
Starlink, which has received a satcom licence from the government, described the development as a promising beginning to its journey in India. The minister stated that discussions focused on collaborative opportunities in satcom to support the ambitions of Digital India and to empower every citizen across the nation.
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is expected to allocate trial spectrum to the company in the coming days. Once the spectrum is granted, Starlink will be required to demonstrate compliance with all regulations, including those related to security, before proceeding further.
