Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SHAR) of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), located in Andhra Pradesh, has signed a five-year memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Real-Time Governance Society (RTGS). The agreement sets the foundation for developing space-based infrastructure to support the state’s Andhra Pradesh Wide Area Real-time Environment (AWARE) platform, which will host 42 mission-critical governance applications. These range from activity monitoring and urban planning to disaster management and real-time public service feedback.
This MoU builds on a broader spacetech strategy first hinted at during a policy review in March 2025, where the state considered acquiring dedicated satellites, potentially one for each region, to enhance real-time governance.
