The IndiaAI Mission has reportedly attracted over 180 proposals in its first two phases from start-ups, institutions, research bodies, and innovators aiming to build large language models (LLMs) trained on Indian datasets. With the third phase underway, total submissions are expected to exceed 200. The proposals are currently under evaluation.

Simultaneously, the Union government is pushing for the expansion of Global Capability Centres (GCCs) beyond traditional metro hubs into tier-II and tier-III cities. Inspired by models such as Karnataka’s ‘Beyond Bengaluru’ and Tamil Nadu’s ‘neo Tidal Park’, the initiative seeks to tap into cost efficiencies, better talent retention, and wider regional development.
