In a significant step towards advancing India’s position in emerging technologies, the government of Telangana, in partnership with NITI Aayog’s Frontier Tech Hub (FTH), is set to roll out a strategic initiative focused on developing a robust quantum technology ecosystem in Hyderabad.
The initiative aligns with the United Nations’ designation of 2025 as the International Year of Quantum, marking 100 years of progress in quantum science and technology.
The charter outlines key focus areas such as quantum computing, communication, sensing, and security, while also placing a strong emphasis on skill development and quantum applications in critical sectors like finance, healthcare, logistics, and materials science.
Further, NITI Aayog’s FTH will provide strategic direction by identifying high-impact applications, supporting global collaborations, and facilitating the creation of ‘moonshot’ projects. It will also contribute to shaping governance frameworks and promoting best practices across the ecosystem.
Furthermore, the initiative will be collaborative in nature, involving contributions from the Telangana government, NITI FTH, industry players, and research institutions like IIIT Hyderabad and the Quantum Ecosystems Technology Council of India (QETCI). An Advisory Board featuring experts from academia, government, and industry will guide its implementation.
Additionally, a series of events is planned throughout the year to foster community engagement and knowledge sharing, including the flagship Quantum Computing Global Summit, which will convene global experts, researchers, and policymakers to advance dialogue and innovation in the field.
