According to Air Vice Marshal Pawan Kumar, director general, Defence Space Agency, India’s defense forces are set to develop an integrated satellite communication grid. This initiative will incorporate spacecraft operating in various orbits and data relay systems, reflecting the growing significance of space in modern warfare.
To enhance their capabilities, the defense forces are considering partnerships with industry stakeholders to meet their requirements and gain a competitive advantage.
The proposed communication grid will likely consist of a blend of satellite constellations, including combinations of Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) and Geostationary Orbit (GEO), or Low Earth Orbit (LEO) with MEO and GEO satellites. Additionally, the defense forces are exploring quantum communication technologies to ensure secure communications.
