BT Group’s digital unit has introduced the GenAI Gateway, which is a new internal platform developed in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS). This platform enables the company’s teams to securely access large language models (LLMs) from various providers, including Anthropic, Meta, Claude, Cohere, and Amazon.

The GenAI Gateway, which is still in beta trial, is designed to facilitate the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into BT’s operations by offering secure and private access to a variety of natural language processing tools. This initiative is crucial for BT as it aims to embed AI more deeply into its business practices. Additionally, the platform protects BT Group from potential vendor lock-in, allowing engineers to select the most suitable model for each specific use case while maintaining budget oversight through per-use case tracking.

By utilising the GenAI Gateway, BT Group encourages its engineers to choose the appropriate model for their needs, ensuring both efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The platform is structured to reduce redundancy in AI usage across the organisation as it scales up its adoption of generative AI technologies.
