GST department orders Vi to pay Rs 151.9 million along with Rs 15.1 million penalty

Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) has received an order by the good and services tax (GST) department, Patna, to pay Rs 151.9 million with penalty of Rs 15.1 million and interest for allegedly availing of input tax credit for which it was not eligible in the financial year 2019-2020 (FY20) and FY21.

The Joint Commissioner for Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) and Central Excise in Patna passed an order under Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 confirming demand of Rs 15,19,20,351 along with penalty Rs 1,51,92,035 and interest as applicable.

Meanwhile, Vi does not agree with the order and will take appropriate legal action.
