Cisco plans to invest about $60 million in India. The company plans to invest $40 million for expanding its India facility and $20 million for training about 120,000 students in the country through the Cisco Networking Academy.
The company is also exploring opportunities to partner with the government for the Digital India and Smart City projects. Cisco believes that government?s Digital India program represents business opportunity worth $511 billion across public and private sectors. Going forward, the company expects its India business to contribute about five per cent towards the company’s overall revenue in next five years, up from the current two per cent. At present, India contributes about $1.1 billion to Cisco?s global revenue.
