
Finland-based networking and telecommunications equipment company Nokia Networks is in talks with various telecom companies including Vodafone, Idea Cellular and Uninor for bagging potential 4G network rollout contracts.
Currently, Nokia Networks is working with Uninor on its 2G network and with Vodafone and Idea for 2G and 3G technologies. Therefore, according to the company, it is talking to the three operators for partnering for their 4G network launch.
In 2014, the company was awarded 34 contracts from the Indian telecom operators including the deals for 2G and 3G expansion and 4G deployments.
Meanwhile, Nokia Networks is also exploring the various opportunities related to the government’s Smart City and Digital India initiatives. It plans to partner with the government and telecom service providers to deploy its services and create broadband highways in India. For the Smart City project, it has already mapped 630,000 villages and 7,000 towns and cities in the country.
