
According to the telecom secretary, the government is targeting to export telecom products and services worth $10 billion (Rs 620 billion) by 2020. With this, the government is aiming its telecom exports to grow at a CAGR of 25 per cent in the next five years.
To this end, the government is taking initiatives to reduce imports of electronic products and meet the local demand through domestic production.
The telecom secretary added that the exports will be targeted at the emerging markets of Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia as these countries will have the highest growth potential in the future.
At present, as per Telecom Export Promotion Council, the total value of India?s telecom exports is around Rs 320 billion, of which Rs 200 billion constitute telecom products and equipment and remaining Rs 120 billion is from services.
